Winery Mátyás headed by András Mátyás has the seat at South Slovakian Nová Vieska away from main roads in the magic locality called Szőlőhegy.
The first bottled wine left the cellar in 2005, however, the family was involved in home wine-making for generations.
Winery owns 12 hectares of vineyards today and it does not use herbicides, pesticides and artificial fertilizers which would cover mineral substances passing from the soil to grapes and wine. Contact (copper, sulphur) and biological (herbal extracts) preparations are used to fight fungal diseases and they are used in a limited quantity only. When making wine, András prefers traditional vinification methods to reductive technology of fermentation and ageing in barrels. Except for sulphur for stabilizing wine, he does not use any auxiliary preparations or high-grade cultures of yeast. In addition to variety wines, such as Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, András is preparing also various cuvée.
